Signs Your San Antonio Home Has an Air Quality Problem

Poor indoor air is easy to miss because it builds up slowly. In a San Antonio home that stays closed up and running the AC for months at a stretch, a few signs are worth paying attention to. If these sound familiar, better filtration, purification, or humidity control may be the fix.

Allergies act up indoors

Sneezing, congestion, or itchy eyes that get worse at home instead of better often point to dust, pollen, or pet dander recirculating through the system.

Dust comes back fast

If surfaces are dusty again a day or two after cleaning, your filtration is likely letting fine particles through and the ductwork may be holding years of buildup.

The air feels stuffy or stale

Homes sealed up tight against the heat trade energy savings for less fresh air. That stale, stuffy feeling is the trade-off, and it is one you can do something about.

Humidity feels off

Muggy rooms, foggy windows, or a clammy feel mean moisture is out of range. High indoor humidity also feeds mold and dust mites, which make everything else worse.

Odors that linger

Cooking, pet, or musty smells that hang around long after the source is gone are a sign the air is not turning over and getting cleaned the way it should.

Someone in the house is sensitive

Asthma, allergies, a new baby, or an older adult in the home raises the bar for the air everyone is breathing. It is worth getting it right.

These are the problems whole-home filtration, purification, and humidity control are built to solve. We start by figuring out which one is actually behind what you are noticing, then recommend only what will help.

I was referred to AirPro by a fellow HOG chapter member (thank you Steve Fantasia) and I am truly grateful for the referal. John was my tech and explained everything. It didn't take him long to find the bad part that, fortunately, is still under warantee. I have been in my house for almost 5 years and John found things that 2 other companies never even mentioned they had done or needed doing. There is even a filter in the attic that no had ever changed and I had no idea it was there. I am totally happy and have my new service contract. I will be telling people about AirPro.

I have been with Robert and Mary Reasor's AirPro for about a dozen years or more now. Always prompt and professional service. My entire heating/cooling system was replaced in 2018 when the 25 year old system just could not pullis load anymore. They installed a wonderful and reputable new unit inside and out. I had them install an airduct in the attic into my master bathroom a couple years after that. I keep the annual maintenance plan on this system for spring and fall checkups. Yes, other companies offer the checkups for a little less, but I never have to question or be concerned as quality of their work is highly valued in my home. I highly recommend this family owned and room company. The techs really know their HVAC business! Thank you AirPro for your concierge service and support!

Installed a new HVAC system June 2025. Today they did a seasonal service, no charge. These technicians are great. They explained everything they did, answered all our questions and informed us of our options going forward. Very pleased with every contact we've had with AirPro Cooling & Heating. Highly reccomend!

Frequently Asked Questions

How often should I change my filters?
For South Texas we recommend replacing the air filters every month.
Does duct cleaning really improve my air?
It can. Over the years, dust, allergens, and contaminants build up in your ductwork and get circulated through your home. Cleaning the ducts removes that buildup and can improve both your air quality and your system's efficiency.
Can you help with humidity in my home?
Yes. Humidity control is part of what we do, and we can help bring the moisture in your home into a comfortable, healthy range.
Will you try to sell me products I don't need?
No. We'll tell you what would actually improve your air and leave the decision to you. We send technicians, not salespeople.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. AirPro is fully licensed and insured for HVAC work in Texas. Our license is TACLB24414E.
Do you do air quality testing in San Antonio?
Yes. If you're not sure what's causing the problem, we test the air quality in San Antonio to pinpoint whether it's dust, humidity, or something else, then recommend the fix that actually helps.
Does indoor air quality really matter?
It does. The EPA reports indoor air is often 2 to 5 times more polluted than outdoor air, and most people spend the majority of their time inside. Cleaner indoor air is one of the simplest upgrades for a healthier home.
Do air purifiers actually work?
The right one does. A properly matched air purification system removes a real share of airborne particles, dander, and some odors. The key is sizing it to your home and system, which is what we do.
Do I need an air purifier or just better filters?
It depends on what you're dealing with. For everyday dust, a better filter often does the job; for allergies, pet dander, or odors, air purification does more. We help you match the fix to the problem.
How much does an air purification system cost?
It depends on the type and your system. Call (210) 383-4682 for a quote. We recommend what fits your home, not the most expensive option.
Do you offer financing on indoor air quality equipment?
Yes. We offer financing with approved credit on any work over $1,000, not just full system replacements, so a bigger job doesn't have to wait. Ask about financing options when we give you the estimate.
